What is a psychic mediumship reading?
What Richard’s gift has given me is serenity, peace, faith…my brother loves me still, his death has not changed that and I can live on in this world, and live a full life, knowing that it is all OK with Joe, so it is all OK with me, and it is only time that separates us.”
— Anne, Texas
There’s an old saying that all mediums are psychic, but not all psychics are mediums. I like the way Sherrie Dillard, author of Discover Your Psychic Type, explains one aspect of the distinction. First, she says, “To be intuitive is to be able to know without knowing how you know. To be psychic seems to be a step up from that, to have the ability to access at will extrasensory information and knowledge.” And further, from my own perspective, mediums have the unique ability to connect at will, or sometimes spontaneously and unbidden, with the souls of those who have died to the physical realm. In addition, many mediums are able to connect with other levels of spiritual intelligence – what some call spiritual guides, angels, and a universal source of energy and divine love. There are, of course, many aspects to psychic phenomena and communication with Spirit (capitalized to represent the totality of that universal love).
My work as a psychic medium is a calling and one that I embrace with an open and prayerful heart. A reading of psychic mediumship offers a unique and unparalleled opportunity for personal growth and healing on many levels.
What can I expect to experience in a psychic mediumship reading?
Every reading is different and every medium is a unique ‘filter’ whose life experience is used by Spirit to convey messages. Whether we sit together in person or over the phone, there is often a sense that time stops – my own experience of this phenomenon is that a sacred space is opened, a door between our physical realm and other dimensions of what some term the astral and causal planes. The experience of love and unity of consciousness can be palpable. In these moments, we are exquisitely in tune with the present moment in all its expansiveness. Frequently, the initial communication from the Other Side starts with an image – it may appear in my mind as a photograph, or more vividly as the presence of a person whose unique look and personality characteristics are impressed upon me. It’s not uncommon for me to hear music or a song that may have meaning to both the sitter (the person receiving the reading) and the souls on the other side, all of which are attempts to validate their presence. Sometimes I very clearly receive names; other times, not at all. I may get a sense of the circumstances of the passing of an individual very clearly and other times, not at all. I have come to simply trust, allow and accept what is given to me in the way in which it is given. My prayer is that I am able to convey, with as much clarity as I can, the messages as they are intended.
The content of your reading
Readings almost always come full circle with an over-arching theme that’s very significant for the client to hear. The theme might be something like Faith, or Discernment, or Forgiveness, and all the details and validations are meant to bring home this broader message for contemplation and incorporation in daily life going forward.
Because of the richness and importance of the material it can be helpful to review a reading several times and keep it for future reference. Sometimes information can be validated at a later time, which will bring new meaning to passages that did not resonate initially.
